Parkinson's disease (PD), a devastating disease, occurs in one out of every 100 people over 65 years old. It is a slowly progressive disease of the nervous system that results in the progressive destruction of brain cells (neurons) in an area of the brain called the black substance. Death usually occurs as a result of secondary complications such as infections.
